My approach to teaching is grounded by two of my greatest loves: sociology and interacting with students. I believe sociology has the power to enlighten, inspire, and ignite individual students toward a more critical life experience, both as students of a university as well as members of a society.
I am continually inspired by the creativity, resourcefulness, and curiosity of students. It is my honor to be part of their educational experience, and as such I try to show up for them in ways both inside and outside the classroom.
In 2017, I was recognized with a Barbara and Paul Saltman Distinguished Teaching Award, an honor bestowed by the Chancellor and Executive Vice Chancellor for Academic Affaris at UC San Diego.
