Teaching Information
My approach to teaching is grounded by two of my greatest loves: sociology and interacting with students. I believe sociology has the power to enlighten, inspire, and ignite individual students toward a more critical life experience, both as students of a university as well as members of a society.
I am continually inspired by the creativity, resourcefulness, and curiosity of students. It is my honor to be part of their educational experience, and as such I try to show up for them in ways both inside and outside the classroom.
In 2017, I was recognized with a Barbara and Paul Saltman Distinguished Teaching Award, an honor bestowed by the Chancellor and Executive Vice Chancellor for Academic Affaris at UC San Diego. You can learn more about the award, selection criteria, and other recipients here.
